Salem, NY (courtesy Linda Lewis) Salem, New York, is located about midpoint along the Eastern Border of New York State, which runs from New York City to the Province of Quebec, Canada.   It is roughly equidistant from Montreal, Boston, and New York City – around 200 miles from each.  It is about an hour’s drive Northeast of Albany, New York, and halfway between Saratoga Springs, New York, and Manchester, Vermont  -  just over a half-hour’s drive from each, and five minutes from the Vermont border.  The area is very accessible to Montreal, the Adirondack Mountains, Lake George, and New England. Salem is on the border of Southern Washington County, New York, and Southern Bennington County, Vermont.  The towns closest to Salem are Greenwich and Cambridge, New York; and Dorset, Vermont. These are followed by Arlington, Vermont, and Schuylerville, New York.  This is a very rural area and there are few actual hotels.  There are, however, many Country Inns & Bed and Breakfasts around the area.  Google Map & Directions
